"Baoji Port" Streamlines Local Foreign Trade Processes
At 4:18 a.m. on May 30, the first international freight train, after a series of local export inspections, departed from the Yangping Customs Supervision Site in Baoji Port Area, heading for Central and West Asian countries such as Turkmenistan. This shipment marks the official operation of the Customs Supervision Site in Baoji Port Area, giving "Baoji Port" the one-stop export function of local customs declaration, on-site inspection,全程 supervision, and direct shipment. It has opened up the entire local foreign trade export process, representing a significant breakthrough in Baoji's opening-up and will fully boost the city's export-oriented economy.
This train consists of 55 standard containers, loaded with specialty goods such as automobiles, tires, and sunflower seeds, with a cargo value of about $2.35 million and a weight of approximately 980 tons. Relying on the complete supporting system of the newly built supervision site, the customs and railway departments cooperated effectively, ensuring orderly and smooth shipment operations and efficiently completing all customs clearance and marshaling tasks.
The Yangping Customs Supervision Site in Baoji Port Area covers a total area of 93 mu, with complete supporting facilities and well-functioning layouts. It features two railway supervision lines, 8,000 square meters of standardized cargo yard, and is equipped with professional import/export inspection platforms and an intelligent information supervision system. The project passed railway and customs acceptance inspections in March 2026 and officially obtained operation qualifications, laying a solid hardware foundation for the routine implementation of customs declaration, inspection, and supervision for international freight trains.
The operation of this supervision site has completely changed the previous situation where local foreign trade goods had to undergo customs clearance and inspection in other places. Previously, local enterprises faced multiple transshipment links, high logistics costs, and long transportation cycles for exporting goods, making the cost of entering the international market persistently high. With the one-stop customs service now in place, the business processes are greatly simplified, clearance time is reduced, and the comprehensive costs for enterprises, including logistics, labor, and time, are effectively lowered.
As a key port platform for Baoji's opening-up, the official operation of the Yangping Customs Supervision Site has further improved the regional international logistics network, built a cross-border logistics channel connecting domestic and foreign markets, and significantly enhanced Baoji's capacity for logistics distribution, foreign trade services, and cargo transit. It will provide full-service support for Baoji's advantageous industries such as automobiles and parts, high-end equipment manufacturing, and agricultural by-products, helping local quality products expand into overseas markets and enabling more "Made in Baoji" products to reach the world through "Baoji Port."
A responsible person from Baoji Port Area Management Committee stated that the successful launch of the first international train is a new starting point for strengthening port functions and expanding opening-up. "Baoji Port" will further strengthen cooperation with Xi'an Chanba International Port, continuously expand international logistics routes, enhance port-area linkage, increase the quality of international trains to Central Asia and the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, and improve the international hub capacity. It will also continuously extend the foreign trade industry chain, attract business entities such as goods supply, logistics, and foreign trade to settle, drive the coordinated development of supporting industries like warehousing and freight forwarding, and continuously optimize customs services and improve operational efficiency, fully empowering the city's export-oriented economy to improve quality and efficiency.
