“It was amazing the amount of rain,” Dan Sizemore said. ”Crazy."
Dan Sizemore says he had water rushing fast in the backyard of his house Sunday night after storms hit along Summit Drive.
“It came in our garage door and it came in in our crawl space in our house from the back,” Sizemore said. “Water coming off of our hill, coming over our rock wall in the back of our house. Just looked like a waterfall and, of course, it’s coming in and then seeping into our basement.”
He says the water made its way to his garage and basement.
“A lot of water in our basement, a lot of water in our garage,“ Sizemore said. ”But, you know, it’s nothing that we can’t handle, but a lot of water. The most that we’ve ever had. We’ve been here 15 years."
To make sure they have no damage, he says he got his tools out and got the water out quickly.
“We were hooking up dehumidifiers in our basement, taking a blower and blowing water out, and I walked around when it quit raining,” Sizemore said. “Our dogs were scared to death. They were hiding in the bathroom because of the thunder and lightning.”
Sizemore says he’s now focused on helping his neighbors following the flood damage.
“We were out this morning and saw people working, and a couple people stopped by and helped drag stuff,” Sizemore said.
