More than 105 thousand residents of the Moscow region have undergone colorectal cancer screening since the beginning of the year. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region.

The ministry emphasized that timely detection of oncological pathologies is the cornerstone of successful therapy. The earlier the disease is detected, the higher the chances of a complete cure, the lower the risk of disabling complications, and the better the final quality of life of the patient. The head of the Moscow Region Ministry of Health, Maxim Zabelin, noted that screening for colorectal cancer is available to every resident of the region over 45 years of age during routine medical examinations or preventive visits to the clinic.

This screening is aimed at detecting malignant tumors in the lower parts of the digestive tract. The key method used in the program is a quantitative fecal occult blood test. This is a highly accurate diagnostic technology that allows detecting even microbleeding and suspecting an oncological process at the earliest, still asymptomatic stages.

Earlier, ABN24 reported that more than 30 thousand residents of the Moscow region received telemedicine consultations.
