The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has launched a fierce critique against the government and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, following the Prime Minister's Sunday social media post. The party accuses the government's policy and the choices of the European Union of prioritizing the profits of large business groups over the needs of citizens.

In a statement from its Press Office, the KKE argues that the government's review of the recent EU Summit omitted any mention of the mass protests in France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, and other European countries, where workers and young people are demonstrating against policies of profit and war preparation.

The party believes that the people cannot wait for decisions from European institutions to address the energy crisis, expressing the view that any related proposals will continue to serve the interests of large business groups.

"What marked the Summit and was naturally absent from Mr. Mitsotakis' post are the massive gatherings of people and youth in France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, and elsewhere, where the target is the policy of profit and war preparation, on the altar of which all European governments, including the Greek one, sacrifice the needs of the people."

"The peoples of Europe, including the Greek people, are not going to wait for the EU to reach an agreement so that the Commission can eventually present its proposals, which will again be for the benefit of monopoly groups, calling on the people to 'save energy'."

"In Greece, with its 'strong voice in Europe' as Mr. Mitsotakis claims, people's homes have started to freeze since mid-October, at a time when large business groups, such as refineries, are seeing their profits quadruple."

"That is why in the coming days, the baton of struggle can and must pass to Greece, with the KKE at the forefront of this fight. Because there is neither time for more waiting, nor room for new illusions and supposed saviors within the framework of this policy and the commitments of the EU. For the people to win, capital must lose."
