Russian oil flows again through Druzhba: Have previous volumes been restored?
At the end of January, due to probable damage to the Druzhba pipeline as a result of a Russian shelling, oil exports to Europe stopped. The repair of the facility was completed only in April, but now supply volumes have returned to a "normal level".
Druzhba pipeline is working again
This refers to 165 thousand barrels of raw material per day. Details citing industry sources were reported by Reuters.
Recall that May was the first full month when the route to Slovakia and Hungary worked again without restrictions.
In April, supplies were carried out only for about a week, so these countries received 55 thousand barrels of oil per day.
Interesting! In the last month of spring, Russia's tax revenues from oil and gas grew significantly – by 32.4%.
It is worth noting that the current level still lags behind the indicators recorded before the suspension of Druzhba – from 200 to 235 thousand barrels per day. This is partly explained by the region's desire to diversify its imports.
For example, MOL, which owns refineries in Hungary and Slovakia, has already purchased 10 different types of oil this year, in line with its strategy, which it plans to continue.
Fortunately, both the eastern and southern pipelines are currently operating without interruptions, and we are exploring possibilities for additional connections, including the possibility of using the route through Odesa in the future,
– says the report.
Earlier, media also wrote that a partial alternative to Russian gas could be Romanian raw materials from the deep-water Neptun Deep field, where production is planned to begin in 2027.
- Recall that after the resumption of Druzhba, Budapest unblocked the allocation of a European loan of 90 billion euros to Kyiv, and the first tranche is expected in June.
- In an exclusive comment to 24 Channel, former Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ogryzko explained that Ukraine was forced to agree to this arrangement. According to him, the decision on the loan is irreversible, so Hungary and Slovakia will no longer be able to obstruct if the pipeline stops due to a new attack.
