France Detains Sanctioned Russian Tanker Tagor in Atlantic

The French Navy conducted an operation in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean to detain the new tanker "Tagor," which arrived from Russia. The detained vessel was under international sanctions. The operation was carried out with the support of several international partners, including the United Kingdom, and was conducted in strict accordance with international maritime law. This was announced on X by French President Emmanuel Macron. The French head of state emphasized that his country's resolve on this matter remains constant and complete. According to Macron, the situation in which ships bypass international restrictions, violate the law of the sea, and thereby finance the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine for more than four years is absolutely unacceptable. Furthermore, the French leader noted that such vessels ignore the most basic rules of maritime navigation, making them a direct threat to both shipping safety and the environment.
