The admiral told this to Journal du Dimanche. He explained that the aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle" was in the Middle East to protect compatriots, but its mission was not limited to that. According to Thibaut Odo de Posse, French President Emmanuel Macron demanded to continue solving tasks to assess the situation in crisis theaters, including in Ukraine. The commander clarified that it was about monitoring tactical and operational movements in the conflict zone. The obtained data were transmitted for analysis in order to make certain decisions. On July 5, a NATO Boeing E-3A Sentry aircraft was flying in Romanian airspace near the Black Sea and the border with Ukraine.
