Tonight: Pleasant conditions with partly cloudy skies, staying mostly dry
Good Sunday evening! Conditions will stay mild for the CSRA with very low chances for showers and storms as most of the activity favors the I-16 corridor towards Statesboro.
Early Next week: Hot with lots of sunshine
The heat dome sets up shop in the CSRA, bringing high heat with lots of sunshine. This would be a good time to do some outdoor activities as the environment will be stable with no signs of storms. Just make sure you are staying hydrated and applying sunscreen because the heat index values will reach 100-103 degrees and the UV index will be very high at 9 with a burn time of 35 minutes or less.
Ahead to Next Week: Temps heat back up to slightly above average for the first week of September
A hot, overall dry pattern is ahead for the CSRA and the Southeastern U.S. much of next week.
High pressure finally moves in and kicks out our stalled front setup. Highs will slowly but surely surge back to the mid 90s with heat index values near 100 each afternoon. Storm chances will drop with a heat dome setup returning to the CSRA once again.
Late Next Week: Heat dome pushes east and brings small chance for storms Thursday and Friday
The heat dome that settles into the Eastern U.S. for much of next week will cave in, with the CSRA being close to the edge of the heat dome once again as tropical moisture pushes into the Deep South. There is a chance for showers and storms, but most of the CSRA should remain dry.
Tracking the Tropics: Dolly no longer a tropical storm; Its moisture brings higher rain chances to Gulf Coast by the weekend
Area of low-pressure in the Northern Gulf with highest chance of development; would be no threat to the CSRA.
A low-pressure area is located over the northern gulf, with the National Hurricane Center indicating that the system has become better organized since Saturday with additional possible, maybe becoming Tropical Storm Eduoard. Even if development occurs, this system would be no threat to the CSRA.
Dolly is no longer a tropical storm as wind shear from the Pacific jet and the Azores high weakened Dolly substantially. There is a slight chance of development out in the Bahamas, but is doubtful to restrengthen.
