High-Demand Professions in Greece to 2035 Span Technology, Green Energy, and Personal Services

Data from Eurostat and Greek authorities reveal the sectors and professions expected to dominate the Greek labor market through 2035, ranging from AI specialists to hairdressers.

The labor market has changed and will continue to change in the coming years, of course due to Artificial Intelligence, and professions are expected to emerge, responding to the needs of modern society and economy.

Professions that combine technology, human communication and specialized knowledge, but also "different" types of professions, such as hairdressers, beauticians, drivers and caregivers for the elderly.

Meanwhile, according to the recent seasonally adjusted data of Eurostat, last April, which concerned the fourth quarter of 2025, four are the sectors with the greatest demand in Greece. Which are these? Education, Administration and Defense, Health and Social Care, and Manufacturing.

Hairdressers, beauticians, drivers and elderly caregivers

The research of Eurofound and the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) at the end of 2025 showed that the sectors of energy, health, construction and technology come first in the professions that will thrive in the coming years, while the greatest demand in the coming years will be for professions related to the provision of personal services, such as hairdressers, beauticians, drivers and elderly caregivers. As the General Director of Labor Relations of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Konstantinos Agrapidas, had pointed out, there are new, innovative professions that have emerged and will dominate until 2035.

More specifically, these are:

  • Personal service workers
  • Sales
  • General and keyboard clerks
  • Drivers and Mobile Plant Operators
  • Teaching professionals
  • Health professionals
  • Business and administration professionals
  • Legal, social and cultural professionals
  • Science/engineering professionals
  • Personal care workers.

Significant mobility in the labor market was also recorded by the research of the Athens University of Economics and Business in 2025. Regarding the professional fields of interest, 46% aim for office clerk positions, 22% in the Human Resources (HR) sector, and 19% in Sales. Data Science and Big Data are among the most dynamic and sought-after sectors in Information and Communication Technology.

Finally, it is noted that five key sectors record average earnings above 2,000 euros, significantly higher than the average salary of 1,516 euros. Specifically, finance leads with 2,940 euros, followed by energy with 2,613 euros, IT and consulting services with 2,324 euros, research and development with 2,175 euros, and the pharmaceutical industry with 2,108 euros.
