"We asked for the Areios Pagos provision for borrowers since 2024 and you all voted it down." Dimitris Koutsoumbas's statement centered on this in Parliament, during the discussion on support measures and economic policy.

The Secretary-General of the KKE attacked ND, speaking of a "virtual reality" that the government is trying to present regarding the situation of workers, citing the strike mobilizations in construction, food, beverage, hotels, and regions.

The Secretary-General of the KKE attributed a common strategy to the government, PASOK, and also to Tsipras's new venture, arguing that all operate within the same fiscal constraints of the European Union and the same logic of economic management.

At the same time, he did not leave unaddressed the issue of borrowers under the Katseli law, accusing both the current government and the Tsipras government (2015-19) of rejecting KKE proposals for substantial relief of over-indebted households.

The KKE had requested it since 2024

Dimitris Koutsoumbas reminded that Perissos had tabled an amendment since July 2024 requesting exactly what the Areios Pagos ruled today: the calculation of interest on the monthly installment and not on the total capital. "The government rejected it and the rest of the opposition remained silent," he said, trying to present the KKE as the only political force that had warned in time about the issue.

"The ND government, like the previous ones, systematically provides support to banks, funds, and servicers," he argued, asking that the cost of implementing the recent Areios Pagos decision be borne exclusively by financial institutions.
