(Central News Agency reporter Lu Gangjun, Hsinchu County, 7th) The Hsinchu County Government stated that it has recently successfully obtained approval and subsidy from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to jointly promote the afternoon peak smart traffic control plan for the Xinglong Bridge corridor in Zhubei. The plan will establish dynamic traffic signals and a smart collision prevention system, hoping that through the infusion of central resources, the commuting traffic to the Hsinchu Science Park can be effectively alleviated.
The Hsinchu County Government issued a press release today stating that the Transportation Department submitted the "115th Year Smart Transportation System Development and Construction Plan - Greater Hsinchu Xinglong Bridge Corridor (Park to Zhubei) Afternoon Peak Smart Traffic Control Plan," which stood out among national competitive subsidy programs. The Ministry of Transportation and Communications approved a total budget of NT$32 million, with NT$16 million subsidized by the central government and NT$16 million self-raised by the county government.
The county government pointed out that with the continuous industrial development and population influx in the Greater Hsinchu area, the number of employees at the Hsinchu Science Park has reached 179,000. The county government continues to improve road service quality through smart technology and strives to introduce central resources into smart traffic management systems, which can not only improve traffic congestion but also enhance road safety.
The Transportation Department of Hsinchu County Government noted that the county government cooperated with the Hsinchu Science Park Administration in 2025 to promote the "Xinglong Bridge Corridor (Zhubei to Park) Morning Peak Smart Traffic Control Plan," effectively improving the traffic conditions around Xinglong Bridge. The currently approved plan continues the previous results, focusing on the main congested sections during the afternoon peak hours from the Hsinchu Science Park back to Zhubei.
The Transportation Department stated that five "smart collision prevention safety warning systems" will be installed at non-signalized intersections prone to accidents along the main traffic routes of Xinglong Bridge. Using real-time image recognition technology, when a vehicle approaches an intersection, the system will immediately activate roadside dynamic warning signs and LED warning lights to increase driver awareness.
