The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued two weather warnings for Pernambuco this Thursday (25). While Greater Recife, Zona da Mata, and Agreste should prepare for heavy rain, the Sertão faces a low humidity alert. Both alerts are yellow, indicating Potential Danger.
Heavy Rain
According to Inmet, the heavy rain warning begins at 3:00 PM and remains valid until 11:59 PM. Forecasts indicate rainfall between 20 and 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, accompanied by strong winds (between 40 and 60 km/h). The risk of power outages, falling tree branches, flooding, and lightning strikes is considered low.
In case of wind gusts, the agency advises not to shelter under trees and to avoid parking vehicles near transmission towers and billboards. It is also recommended to avoid using electronic devices plugged into outlets.
The cities affected by the rain are: Abreu e Lima, Água Preta, Aliança, Amaraji, Araçoiaba, Barreiros, Bonito, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Camaragibe, Carpina, Catende, Chã de Alegria, Chã Grande, Condado, Cortês, Escada, Feira Nova, Gameleira, Glória do Goitá, Goiana, Gravatá, Igarassu, Ilha de Itamaracá, Ipojuca, Itambé, Itapissuma, Itaquitinga, Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Joaquim Nabuco, Lagoa de Itaenga, Lagoa do Carro, Maraial, Moreno, Nazaré da Mata, Olinda, Palmares, Passira, Paudalho, Paulista, Pombos, Primavera, Recife, Ribeirão, Rio Formoso, São José da Coroa Grande, São Lourenço da Mata, Sirinhaém, Tamandaré, Tracunhaém, and Vitória de Santo Antão.
Dry Weather
For the Sertão region of Pernambuco, the warning is for dry weather and is valid from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM this Thursday. Relative air humidity should vary between 30% and 20%. There is a low risk of forest fires and health issues. Recommendations include drinking plenty of fluids, avoiding physical exertion during the driest hours, and avoiding sun exposure during the hottest part of the day.
The affected cities are: Afrânio, Araripina, Bodocó, Dormentes, Ipubi, Ouricuri, Petrolina, Santa Cruz, Santa Filomena, and Trindade.
