Iranian Vice President Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah said on Wednesday that a national poll showed about 82% of citizens expressed satisfaction with the mechanism for providing basic goods and managing markets during the Iran war, an indicator he considered evidence of government performance efficiency in dealing with exceptional circumstances.
He explained that the results reflect, according to him, the success of the goods distribution system in maintaining relative market stability despite the pressures of war, noting that the government managed to prevent widespread disruptions in supply chains or acute shortages of basic materials, according to Iran International channel.
The Iranian official added that the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade played a pivotal role during that period, by managing supply and distribution operations, and ensuring the continued flow of vital goods to local markets, including food and basic needs of citizens.
Ghaempanah praised the ministry's performance during the war, saying it succeeded in containing the repercussions of the economic crisis resulting from security conditions, and maintaining a level of stability in domestic markets despite logistical challenges and external pressures.
This statement comes at a time when Iran faces increasing economic pressures as a result of sanctions and regional tensions, as these factors directly affect trade movement, supply chains, and commodity prices in the local market.
The Iranian government, according to observers, is trying to show its ability to manage the economy during crises, by focusing on indicators of popular satisfaction and continuity of providing basic goods, in contrast to criticisms related to the impact of sanctions and economic fluctuations on the standard of living.
The announcement of the high satisfaction rate also indicates official efforts to enhance confidence in government performance during emergencies, especially given the sensitivity of the internal situation and challenges related to securing the daily needs of citizens.
On the other hand, some analysts believe that such government polls may not necessarily reflect the full picture of the economic situation, due to the difficulty of verifying the measurement methodology and conditions for conducting surveys during crisis periods.
Nevertheless, Iranian authorities confirm that market stability during the war period is an important achievement, especially given the external pressures affecting the Iranian economy, and the challenges associated with the continued flow of basic goods to various provinces.
