North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observed the testing of major weapon systems, including a multiple rocket launcher and a tactical ballistic missile warhead, state media reported today. The tests involved an upgraded 24-tube multiple rocket launcher system, whose range, according to the state agency KCNA, has been extended to about 90 kilometers. The system, it is stated, has been further automated and equipped with a precision guidance system, Kyodo reported. KCNA also reported that a special tactical ballistic missile warhead was tested, intended for targeting key objectives such as airfields, ports, and energy facilities. According to reports, Kim Jong Un said he was satisfied with the test results and called for further modernization of weapons systems towards greater automation, range, and precision. The South Korean military announced on Thursday that it detected the launch of more than 10 rocket projectiles from the eastern part of North Korea, Tanjug reports.
