Democratic Progressive Party Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Lai Jui-long today (28th) established the Rotary Support Group in the afternoon. Hundreds of members from various associations, business circles, and core social forces stood up to support his urban vision of "Rise of the South, Toward the International," and backed him to become Kaohsiung mayor. Lai emphasized that he would create a Kaohsiung where tradition and innovation go hand in hand.

The inaugural meeting was held at the Hanshin Arena Golden Phoenix Hall, with several city councilor candidates attending to express support; the atmosphere was warm. Lai Jui-long shook hands with supporters one by one and awarded the battle flag to support group president Huang Lai-jin, announcing the official launch of the Rotary Support Group. In the future, it will continue the dense energy of grassroots organizations to fully support Lai Jui-long as mayor.

Lai Jui-long stated that the spirit of Rotary is "Service Above Self" and it possesses a global vision that is rooted locally and connects to the world. "Kaohsiung needs to step into the next decade with far-sighted vision and innovation. Rotary clubs have long been involved in international exchanges and community care, making them an important civil international bridge for Kaohsiung."

Lai further explained that Kaohsiung's transformation will involve the parallel development of tradition and innovation, and the coexistence of experience and creativity. In terms of industry, traditional industries must continue to upgrade through smartization, digitalization, and net-zero transformation, while semiconductors, AI, and smart technology should be accelerated. In terms of talent, the experience of senior workers and business predecessors should be respected, while younger generations, tech talent, and entrepreneurial teams should be given more platforms. In terms of tourism, traditional tourism should develop alongside emerging projects such as Kaohsiung Music Center, Pier-2 Art Center, Weiwuying, harbor performances, and large-scale concerts, so that old places gain new stories and new attractions gain local flavor.

Lai emphasized that Kaohsiung is a city of dreams where any miracle is possible. In the future, he will take on the fourth baton for Kaohsiung with a broader international perspective and a longer-term urban vision, continuing Mayor Chen Chi-mai's promotion of "One Airport, Three Centers," and further proposing the "Six Industrial Arrows" and the "Happy Capital Project" vision, to make Kaohsiung a new strategic gateway for Taiwan facing the world and a technological and economic hub.
