Lava burst and flowed from Mayon Volcano in Albay on Sunday evening as the restive peak continued its effusive eruption for the 202nd consecutive day, PHIVOLCS said.
According to the volcano and earthquake monitor in a social media post, Strombolian activity—intermittent, relatively mild volcanic explosions—was observed at Mayon, generating "incandescent lava flows and rockfalls."

"Alert Level 3 prevails over Mayon and entry into the 6-km radius Permanent Danger Zone must be prohibited," PHIVOLCS said.
The agency said Mayon’s current unrest is magmatic in nature, meaning molten rock has risen from beneath the volcano and reached the surface.
This results in continuous or intermittent lava effusion, which feeds the ongoing flows and occasional lava fountaining events.
Such activity is typical of stratovolcanoes like Mayon, whose relatively viscous magma can produce both effusive and explosive eruptions depending on pressure buildup. — BM, GMA News
