Army Commander from Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh: “What we are doing is not merely a mission; it is a matter of the state’s existence!”
Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal inspected a number of units deployed in the south, starting his tour with a meeting with officers and soldiers at the command of the Second Intervention Regiment in Zahrani, which was a congratulatory visit on the occasion of Army Day, during which he was briefed on the state of the units, their missions and the challenges facing them.
He then made a field tour that included the town of Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh, where he was received by the head of its municipality, met with residents, listened to their concerns, and learned about the difficulties impeding their return to their town and the resumption of their normal lives.
He also took part in a prayer held for the souls of the army’s martyrs at the Monastery of Our Lady of the Annunciation – Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh, which had been subjected to hostile targeting by the Israeli occupation.
During the tour, General Haykal stressed that the army would continue to carry out its missions in consolidating security and providing suitable conditions for the residents’ return, in coordination with the rest of the state institutions.
In his remarks to the servicemen, he said: “What we are doing is not merely a mission, but a matter of the state’s existence, the security and stability of the homeland, and reassuring citizens.”
He also offered his condolences to the families of the soldiers who were martyred, noting that the institution remains loyal to them and their families and appreciates their sacrifices for the homeland.
