The deputy will lead the commission responsible for monitoring initiatives aimed at improving the electricity service in Magdalena and the Caribbean region.
The Departmental Assembly of Magdalena officially installed the Accidental Energy Commission, a space created to analyze and monitor the issues related to the provision of electricity service in the department.
During the session held on June 23, the deputies elected the board that will lead this body. Deputy Linda Luz Cabarcas Sánchez was chosen as president of the commission, while Deputy Candi Juliet Sánchez Vázquez assumed the vice presidency.
The election took place after the nomination by several members of the corporation, who highlighted Cabarcas's leadership in promoting initiatives aimed at finding solutions to the difficulties facing the region in energy matters.
Monitoring the Caribbean energy agenda
After her election, the president of the commission emphasized the importance of keeping open spaces for debate and monitoring the situation of electricity service in the Colombian Caribbean.
The deputy recalled that the Administrative and Planning Region (RAP Caribe) has been consolidating a roadmap composed of 49 actions aimed at promoting structural solutions for the region's energy sector.
According to her, these proposals are intended to be incorporated into the next National Development Plan, in order to advance measures that improve the quality, coverage, and sustainability of the energy service.
Public hearing will be on July 14
During the session, the participation of representatives from RAP Caribe in a public hearing convened by the Departmental Assembly of Magdalena for July 14 was also confirmed.
In that forum, the actions proposed to strengthen the regional energy system will be presented, and contributions will be collected to enrich the proposal that will be submitted to the National Government.
The new commission will have as one of its main tasks to accompany and monitor these initiatives, with the goal that the needs of Magdalena and the Caribbean are taken into account in the formulation of public policies for the sector.
Commission begins activities
With the election of the board and the approval of the first administrative decisions, the Energy Commission was formally installed and ready to start its activities.
The deputies agreed on the need to maintain a permanent work agenda to promote solutions to one of the main concerns of users and productive sectors in the region: the provision of electricity service.
