Authorities Request Permission to Sell Gasoline in Canisters at Nizhny Novgorod Gas Stations

The government of the Nizhny Novgorod region has sent appeals to fuel companies to lift the ban on dispensing fuel into canisters. The authorities are asking to ensure refueling into containers compliant with GOST standards within the limits set at gas stations. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Energy in response to residents' questions on social media.

According to available information, motor fuel resources are sufficient to refuel vehicles. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, as in a number of other regions, there has been increased demand for liquid motor fuel in June, in some cases reaching a panic level, the Ministry of Energy reported.

It also noted that measures — in particular limits on fuel dispensing per fill-up — were forcedly introduced by oil companies to stabilize the situation amid rising demand.

Local authorities, in turn, have enabled independent gas stations to enter into direct contracts with producers for fuel supply. In addition, regular monitoring of fuel availability at oil depots and gas stations is carried out, and regional staff meetings are held twice a week. In short, the situation is under constant control, the Ministry of Energy stated.
