After a tragic Friday, with half of Lodi without electricity from 1:30 PM and the need to activate emergency diesel generators (the so-called power stations, large containers loaded on trucks), Saturday was a day with bated breath, in which there were still disruptions and outages, but much more contained. Also in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano there were significant problems. The crux of the issue is not linked to the high demand for energy to run air conditioners, but to the great heat that overheats the grid, evidently not able to withstand these temperatures and which probably requires modernization interventions.

In Lodi on Friday and during the night between Friday and Saturday there were moments of great concern, with prolonged power outages lasting hours that put shops, bars, restaurants, the elderly, and families with young children in difficulty. Already on Monday, some shopkeepers will contact their lawyers to file damage claims against the grid operator.

Against this backdrop of serious emergency, Mayor Andrea Furegato intervened on Friday and Saturday with two communications to update the situation.

"After some specific service disruptions during the week, yesterday, Friday 26 June, heavy blackouts occurred affecting several thousand users," said the mayor of Lodi. "Immediately, E-distribuzione, which is responsible for grid management, started interventions on faults that occurred on several medium-voltage lines. The high temperatures recorded did not allow the lines to cool down, causing the faults. During the night, while workers were at work, at around 2:30 AM the substation in the Court area was reactivated, re-energizing the users of the lower city that were without power. Around 3 AM, a 2 MW Power Station was also connected in via Acquedotto: an operation that allowed power to be restored to a significant portion of the city – from Corso Roma to viale Agnelli, up to Corso Mazzini – and it remains operational. In the Capanno area there is another Power Station, also active. This morning, Saturday 27 June, repair work on two medium-voltage faults is underway, while restorations of two other lines are planned for the day. Meanwhile, E-distribuzione is searching, with the support of a specialized company, for faults on two underground lines. One team is dedicated to reports concerning low-voltage lines. The regret remains for the serious consequences of these disruptions, both in terms of concern and inconvenience for citizens and damage to businesses. We thank the people of Lodi for the patience, availability, and understanding with which they have faced these difficult days. As the municipal administration, we will continue to maintain constant coordination with E-distribuzione, monitoring the situation and promptly reporting any critical issues, in the awareness that the phenomena underlying the difficulties suffered must find a solution in structural investment choices for the grid."

This is instead the statement from the Municipality of Sant'Angelo Lodigiano: "We inform citizens that a generator set up by Enel is arriving to restore power supply in the areas of via San Martino, via Lazzaretto, and surrounding streets, which have been affected by disruptions since last evening (Friday). The Municipal Administration is in constant contact with Enel and is monitoring the situation to facilitate a resolution of the faults. We are aware of the inconvenience many citizens are experiencing and ask for a little more patience. The problems with the power grid are significantly affecting the entire province of Lodi, they do not depend directly on the municipalities, and technicians are working to restore service as soon as possible."
