City's summer recreation beginning to come alive
The City of Thunder Bay parks and open spaces' seasonal staff are returning for the summer, and many services will reopen across the city.
"As seasonal services and amenities begin to open across the city, it's a great time to get outside and enjoy our parks and open spaces," said Cory Halvorsen, parks and open spaces manager.
He added that people can look forward to many outdoor recreational areas that have opened, with other openings in the coming weeks.
Open now
- Mission Island and Mountdale boat launches.
- Boater services and boat launch at the marina.
- Public washrooms in parks.
- Chapples and Strathcona golf courses.
- Chippewa Park and Trowbridge Park campgrounds.
- Chippewa Park and Centennial Park amusement rides weekend operations (Carousel excluded until operations begin in the new pavilion building expansion).
Open June 12
- County Park and Northwood Playfield splash pads.
Open June 19
- North End and Franklin Park splash pads.
