The Ministry of Trade announced that administrative fines totaling over 10 million TL were imposed on markets operating in Istanbul against the excessive price increases in the white meat market.

Inspection Intensified in Summer Months

The Ministry of Trade, which continues its inspection activities with determination to protect the economic interests of citizens, maintain a fair and competitive trade environment in the domestic market, and prevent excessive price practices, announced that comprehensive inspection and audit studies have been initiated across the sector to prevent practices that seek to exploit the increase in consumer demand for white meat with the arrival of the summer season.

Over 10 Million TL Fines to Markets in Istanbul

The inspections carried out in the field by the inspection teams of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Trade were discussed at the Unfair Price Assessment Board meeting. As a result of the inspections, both national and local chain markets found to have made excessive price increases on basic food products were put under the microscope.

By the board's decision, administrative fines totaling 10,114,595 Turkish Liras were imposed on market operators operating in Istanbul.

We Closely Monitor the Supply Chain

The Ministry of Trade stated that they keep the entire supply chain, from producer to retailer, under surveillance to ensure citizens can access basic food products at reasonable prices. In the statement, it was emphasized that "we will continue to closely monitor abnormal price movements at all stages of the supply chain and resolutely implement necessary administrative measures," underlining that market manipulations will not be tolerated in any way.
