Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz evaluated the May inflation data, stating that monetary, fiscal, and income policies will be supported by supply-side steps, aiming to permanently increase the welfare of citizens.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that they aim to resolutely continue the disinflation process and permanently increase the welfare of citizens by supporting monetary, fiscal, and income policies with supply-side steps.
In a post on his social media account regarding the May inflation data, Yılmaz stated that the fight against inflation continues with policies implemented decisively and in coordination.
Stating that consumer inflation slowed significantly in May compared to the previous month, at 1.71%, Yılmaz reminded that annual inflation was at 32.61%. Yılmaz noted that food prices decreased by 0.5% on a monthly basis due to the improvement in fresh fruit and vegetable prices.
Yılmaz stated that the rapid decline in May inflation shows that the increase observed in the previous month did not turn into a permanent trend and was limited to temporary factors, adding, "This outlook shows that the risk of a permanent and widespread impact on pricing behavior remains limited."
Emphasizing that they aim to permanently increase the welfare of citizens, Yılmaz said:
"We continue to work in coordination with our institutions to ensure that temporary shocks do not turn into a permanent pressure on the purchasing power of our citizens. We aim to resolutely continue the disinflation process and permanently increase the welfare of our citizens by supporting our monetary, fiscal, and income policies with supply-side steps in the areas of food, housing, logistics, and energy."
