EU says jet fuel market could become more tense due to Hormuz Strait

28 May, 18:08

The aviation fuel market in the European Union could become "increasingly tense" if the situation in the Hormuz Strait does not improve within a few weeks, according to an updated statement from the Energy Department of the European Commission, reports UNN citing Reuters.

Details

"The Oil Coordination Group has made it clear that the closure of the Hormuz Strait affects both oil and all major petroleum products, and all EU countries are affected by this dynamic," the statement says.

As indicated in the European Commission, "so far the EU is feeling price effects, without physical disruptions in supply at the consumer level."

Addition

The war in Iran has caused a shortage of jet fuel in the world, threatening to disrupt vacation plans ahead of the peak summer tourist season in the Northern Hemisphere.
