BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The latest round of mutual strikes between the United States and Iran entered its 10th day on the 20th, with little sign that the conflict between the two sides will end in the short term. According to a CNN report on the 20th, an increasing number of poll data shows that the level of aversion to the Iran war among the US public has "rapidly" reached the same level as the Afghanistan war and Iraq war.
The report said that the latest Washington Post and Ipsos poll showed that 68% of respondents believed the Iran war was "not worth fighting," while 28% thought it was "worth it." In polls related to the Afghanistan war, the largest difference between "not worth fighting" and "worth it" was 39 percentage points, with 67% saying "not worth" and 28% saying "worth"; this result was obtained in 2013, nearly 12 years after the US launched the war. In polls related to the Iraq war, by 2007, about 66% of Americans thought the war was "not worth fighting," about four years after the US launched the war.

In another poll conducted jointly by The Washington Post and ABC News, less than "two months" after the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran on February 28, more than 60% of respondents deemed the war "a mistake." This speed far exceeded that of the Vietnam War and the Iraq War.
A Quinnipiac University poll released in June showed that 45% of respondents believed the Iran war would "weaken" the US's global status, while only 33% thought it would "strengthen." Similar data were obtained in US polls two years after the outbreak of the Iraq war.
According to another CNN poll, even at the beginning of the Iran war, only about 41% of respondents expressed support for US actions. According to the New York Times, this is the lowest support rate for US international military operations on record.
In most polls, the proportion of respondents who regarded the Iran war or other overseas military actions as the most important issue for the US was less than 10%. Americans are more concerned about domestic economic issues. The Iran war has pushed up oil prices and transmitted to other industries, further pressuring the US economy, which could cause "big trouble" for the Republican Party in the midterm congressional elections in November.
