Gasoline and oil prices today, August 16: Prices decrease for 2 consecutive sessions, E10 gasoline approaches 18,000 VND, cheap oil, Galaxy S24 deeply discounted

Update on gasoline and oil prices today, August 16. Both domestic gasoline and oil have decreased for 2 consecutive sessions, with the most recent being last Thursday. After the decrease, E10 gasoline has moved closer to the 18,000 VND mark, similar to late February. Meanwhile, the price of the Galaxy S24 continues to drop sharply.
Gasoline and oil prices today, August 16
- E5 RON92 gasoline: not higher than 21,235 VND/liter (down 493 VND/liter compared to the maximum selling price in the previous adjustment period);
- E10 RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 22,119 VND/liter (down 205 VND/liter compared to the maximum selling price in the previous adjustment period);
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 27,233 VND/liter (down 311 VND/liter compared to the maximum selling price in the previous adjustment period);
- Mazut oil 180CST 3.5S: not higher than 16,756 VND/kg (up 365 VND/kg compared to the maximum selling price in the previous adjustment period).
Also at yesterday's adjustment, the management agency decided to allocate 200 VND/liter from the gasoline price stabilization fund for biofuel and diesel oil, and not to disburse from the fund.
After yesterday's adjustment, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline continued to fall, and is only 2,605 VND away from the 18,630 VND mark recorded in late February. Compared to the peak of 30,110 VND/liter in late March, E5 gasoline is now 8,875 VND/liter cheaper.
For E10 RON 95 gasoline, the decrease is also significant, compared to the peak of 31,420 VND/liter in late March. Currently, E10 gasoline is 9,301 VND/liter cheaper than its peak.
In the oil segment, diesel oil recorded a massive decrease of 17,545 VND from its peak in early April of 44,780 VND, equivalent to nearly 50% of its value.
Overall, domestic gasoline and oil prices continue to decrease steadily and are still very close to the price range of just over 18,000 VND/liter, as seen in late February before the Hormuz Strait conflict escalated.
Meanwhile, the smartphone market is also witnessing a sharp drop in the price of the Galaxy S24, making it as cheap as a mid-range phone, despite its hardware being capable of easily competing with the iPhone 17.
