Wrocław Hit by Heavy Rainfall and Flooding on Saturday

Wrocław experienced severe flooding after a heavy downpour on Saturday evening, with streets turned into rivers and the Olympic Stadium machine park submerged.

A real cloudburst passed through Wrocław on Saturday in the late afternoon hours. Videos from the capital of Lower Silesia have already appeared online. The streets turned into rivers. The machine park at the Olympic Stadium, where the next round of the Speedway Grand Prix was to take place, was flooded.

Adverse weather conditions affected the residents of Wrocław. In the late afternoon hours, a powerful downpour accompanied by a thunderstorm passed through the capital of Lower Silesia. The first recordings appeared online.

Bielany Wrocławskie was completely flooded. The road and sidewalks turned into a flowing river - pedestrians had water up to their ankles (video below).

At the Olympic Stadium in Wrocław, the fifth round of the cycle determining the world champion in speedway was planned. The tournament was supposed to start at 7 p.m., but at that time a storm was raging over the stadium and a wall of water was pouring from the sky. The machine park turned into a lake (see photos below).

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warned of weather conditions from the beginning of the day. For part of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, IMGW issued a third-level alert. Locally, due to accumulation, rainfall of up to 70 mm and wind gusts from 80 km/h to 90 km/h, with points up to 110 km/h, were forecast.

The Government Security Center informed about an alert across all of Poland. "Attention! Today and tomorrow (20/21.06) intense rainfall, strong wind and storms are likely. Possible power outages. Avoid open spaces" - it was indicated. The alert was sent to recipients throughout the country.
