Governor Major General Mohamed Alwan held an expanded meeting at the governorate headquarters to follow up on the implementation rates of service and development projects underway within the presidential initiative "Hayah Karima" and the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside, as part of continuous follow-up on project progress and accelerating the pace of implementation to improve the level of services provided to citizens.

This comes in implementation of the political leadership's directives to quickly complete projects and achieve sustainable development in various villages and centers of the governorate.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mina Emad, Deputy Governor; Engineer Ahmed Hassan, representative of the central unit of the "Hayah Karima" initiative at the Cabinet of Ministers; Major General Magdy Ahmed, Director of the Regional Office of Dar Engineering (the consulting office supervising project follow-up) and his accompanying work team; Soad Mohamed Rady, coordinator of the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside; heads of targeted centers and cities; relevant ministry undersecretaries; officials of utility companies and various entities; and project coordinators.

Governor Major General Mohamed Alwan affirmed at the outset of the meeting that the Egyptian state pays great attention to the file of developing the Egyptian countryside as one of the most important axes of achieving comprehensive development, pointing out that the executive bodies in the governorate work around the clock to complete ongoing projects and deliver them to citizens as quickly as possible, achieving a qualitative leap in the level of services provided and improving the quality of life for the people.

The meeting reviewed the executive status and completion rates in various sectors, foremost of which are drinking water and sanitation projects, natural gas, communications, irrigation, road paving, agriculture, and social solidarity, in addition to discussing technical reports and observations recorded by the Dar Engineering team during their field tours, and mechanisms for immediate handling to raise performance rates and ensure projects enter service at full capacity.

The Governor of Assiut explained that the presidential initiative "Hayah Karima" aims to improve the living standard of citizens and enhance the quality of services provided to them, within the framework of the state's vision led by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to build the new republic and achieve sustainable development in various sectors.

The governor stressed the necessity of full commitment to specified timelines, doubling implementation rates, and quickly removing any obstacles that may hinder work progress, directing all relevant authorities to intensify efforts and enhance joint coordination, while adhering to the highest quality standards and approved technical specifications, to ensure the speedy completion of projects and maximize their benefit for citizens.

Major General Mohamed Alwan, Governor of Assiut, pointed out that periodic reports on the executive status of projects are submitted to Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Local Development and Environment Dr. Manal Awad, in parallel with continuous follow-up by Team Mohamed Hegazy, Advisor to the President for the "Hayah Karima" initiative, to ensure adherence to implementation plans and achieve the highest quality rates.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the governor affirmed the continuation of field and technical follow-up of trial operation works for completed projects, in coordination with representatives of Dar Engineering and the Technical Office of the Cabinet of Ministers, in addition to following up on ongoing construction works, in preparation for entering projects into service and achieving the targeted developmental returns for citizens in various villages and centers of the governorate.

It is noteworthy that the first phase of the presidential initiative "Hayah Karima" in Assiut Governorate aims to implement 2,716 service and development projects at a cost approaching 80 billion Egyptian pounds, within 7 centers comprising 149 villages and 615 dependencies and hamlets, contributing to supporting infrastructure, improving quality of life, and achieving sustainable development goals.
