Biomedical stocks surged to become the top gainer among listed stocks on the 29th, with an intraday increase of 5.6%. Led by PharmaEssentia (6446) hitting its daily limit and setting a new historical high, Bora Pharmaceuticals (6472), Herom Science (7799), and Ever Supreme Bio (6712) all briefly hit their daily limits. Many other stocks, including Lotus Pharmaceutical (1795) and ScinoPharm (4726), also rose sharply, pushing the listed biomedical sector to the top gainer position. The market is optimistic about the continued benefits of new drug licensing, overseas expansion, and product line expansion, attracting active capital positioning.
PharmaEssentia recently announced that its Ropeg pen injector has received FDA approval in the United States and is expected to be officially launched within weeks, potentially becoming a new growth driver for the second half of the year. Meanwhile, the company's consolidated revenue in May was NT$2.46 billion, a year-on-year increase of 108.5%, setting a new monthly high. Cumulative revenue for the first five months reached NT$9.644 billion, up 70.31% year-on-year, mainly benefiting from the continued global sales growth of the existing Ropeg product, with steady expansion of demand in the U.S. PV market.
In addition to the existing indication for polycythemia vera (PV), the new indication for Ropeg for essential thrombocythemia (ET) is also in the final review stage. The U.S. FDA has set the PDUFA date for August 30, 2026, and the market expects another growth driver. However, PharmaEssentia was added to the list of stocks under observation by the Taiwan Stock Exchange on the 24th due to sharp price fluctuations over the past six trading days.
Bora Pharmaceuticals continues to expand its U.S. market presence through mergers and product layout. The board recently approved a $45 million investment to acquire the U.S. ANDA for the specialty drug Vigadrone powder and all economic benefits. Meanwhile, its U.S. subsidiary Upsher-Smith Laboratories simultaneously launched KYMBEE oral suspension, a new dosage form for treating Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), lowering the applicable age to over 2 years old, which helps deepen the rare disease product portfolio and enhance profitability.
Another biomedical stock, Herom Science, is accelerating its international market expansion. It recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Tokyo B dot Medical Inc. in Japan. The cooperation covers four major directions: pan-Asian market expansion, next-generation particle therapy center construction, medical device technology integration, and cross-strait mutual recognition, joining forces to seize opportunities in pan-Asian precision medicine and particle therapy.
On the market, in addition to PharmaEssentia and others hitting their daily limits, OBI Pharma (4174) also hit its daily limit during the session. Stocks such as Polaris Pharma (6550), TaiGen Biotechnology (4169), EirGenix (6589), TaiMed Biologics (4147), and Allianz (4743) also rose simultaneously. Subsequent progress in new drugs, overseas market expansion, and revenue performance will be the market's focus.
