FSB Arrests Teenager in Orenburg on Charges of Spying for Ukraine

The FSB detained a 17-year-old Russian citizen in the Orenburg region on suspicion of high treason for allegedly collecting infrastructure data for Ukraine's military intelligence.

Moscow. June 16. INTERFAX.RU - The FSB reported the detention and arrest in the Orenburg region of a young man who was collecting information about critically important infrastructure facilities in the region for Ukrainian military intelligence.

"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Orenburg region suppressed the illegal activities of a citizen of the Russian Federation, born in 2008, involved in committing high treason," the FSB Public Relations Center reported.

According to the intelligence service, the detainee proactively established contact with a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and, on his instructions, "collected information about critically important infrastructure facilities for subsequent transfer to the Ukrainian side in order to strike them with unmanned aerial vehicles."

The investigative department of the FSB of Russia for the Orenburg region has opened a criminal case against the detainee on charges of a crime under Article 275 (high treason) of the Criminal Code. He has been arrested.
