Chihuahua, Chih.- As forecast for this Monday, a heavy rain hit the city of Chihuahua, with the first reports occurring in the north of the city. The precipitation, which had a 45 percent probability, reached moderate to heavy intensity in key sectors of the urban area.

The rainfall was present on important road arteries such as Heroico Colegio Militar Avenue, Homero Avenue, Tecnológico Avenue, and Los Nogales roadway, among other routes where motorists reported heavy downpours. In response, rescue teams maintained preventive monitoring, as weather models indicate that rains will continue in the coming days.

In this regard, the State Coordination of Civil Protection (CEPC) kept the previously issued preventive alert in effect. The state agency warned of the possibility that these rains could develop into heavy rainfall in different municipalities across the state in the coming hours, including primarily the capital city of Chihuahua.

Finally, authorities from the Traffic Police Department urged drivers to strictly respect speed limits and to drive with their headlights on. Officers explained that the first rains wash away the automotive oil settled on the asphalt, making the streets significantly more slippery. Therefore, they urged the public to check their windshield wipers and take extreme precautions to avoid rear-end collisions.
