Patras plunged into mourning after the tragic road accident that killed a 17-year-old son and his 56-year-old father on Sunday afternoon (May 31, 2026) while riding a motorcycle on the major ring road of Patras. The 52-year-old's helmet camera, which recorded his motorcycle trips, has become the focus of the police investigation into how the accident occurred.
The camera recording stopped seconds before the crash, so police do not have a clear picture of what happened, according to tempo24.
They are therefore seeking eyewitnesses, as for the past ten years, support works have been ongoing on the ring road bridge and there are no other cameras in the area.

Mourning prevails in Kotroni, the neighborhood where the father and son lived. The 52-year-old owned a recycling business next to his home. The 17-year-old was a second-year high school student at the Experimental School of Patras and an athlete on the Panachaiki basketball team. Classmates, friends, and teammates cannot believe the loss, and since Sunday evening, they have been leaving flowers and lighting candles at the accident site.
