Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Muhammad Qodari emphasized that the construction of 1,151 kilometers of regional roads inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto last week is a concrete step by the government to open economic access and ensure the welfare of all levels of society.
The construction is based on Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 11 of 2025 on Accelerating the Improvement of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency. According to him, the inauguration of these regional roads also sends a strong message to all citizens that development in this era is inclusive development.
"Development that is not only centered in big cities but reaches remote villages that have rarely been touched. We want to ensure that social justice and economic equity are truly felt by every citizen," said Qodari in an official statement on Monday (June 29, 2026).
He stated that the construction of roads spread across 37 provinces is crucial. Because road infrastructure is the lifeblood of the people's economy. The roads built are routes that connect farmers' production in villages to the dinner tables of all families in Indonesia.
"This development is our strong foundation to achieve food, energy, and water self-sufficiency," he said.
The government, continued Qodari, wants to ensure that no more harvests rot on the road due to damaged access roads. In addition, there must be no more hindered supplies of energy and clean water due to broken routes.
"With smooth and connected roads, the flow of food supply from production centers to the community will be faster and more efficient," he said.
According to Qodari, the inauguration of the 1,151 km of roads is also concrete evidence that when all elements of the nation unite and move forward, no challenge is insurmountable.
Prabowo Inaugurates 1,151 Km of Regional Roads, Reduces National Logistics Costs
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated regional roads across Indonesia totaling 1,151 kilometers as per the 2025 Presidential Instruction, on Tuesday (June 23, 2026). The inauguration was centered in Sampang Regency, East Java, and attended by all regional heads across Indonesia virtually.
"I welcome with pride and happiness the completion of regional road construction totaling 1,151 kilometers across all corners of Indonesia in 37 provinces," said Prabowo in Sampang Regency, East Java, Tuesday (June 23, 2026).
He emphasized that regional roads are very important because they are the lifeblood of the community's economy. Prabowo stated that the existence of regional roads will help rural communities distribute and sell their agricultural, fishery, and garden products.
"With these roads, the people's production output, agricultural products, garden products, fishery products, and various community needs can move from villages to markets, distribution centers, industrial areas, and vice versa. From everywhere to the villages," he explained.
On the other hand, Prabowo assessed that the presence of regional roads in various regions will reduce logistics costs and facilitate connectivity between communities. Moreover, Indonesia is a very large and vast country with diverse geographical conditions.
"Transport costs will be cheaper if roads are adequate. If there is connectivity between all production centers and settlement centers," said Prabowo.
Regarding Logistics Costs
Prabowo affirmed his commitment to reducing logistics costs for all people. He does not want any region in Indonesia to be left behind due to limited access.
"Good roads are part of our resilience strategy. Food self-sufficiency is not only about seeds, fertilizer, and irrigation," he said.
"Energy self-sufficiency is not only about energy. It is also the result of a smooth and good distribution network. Energy must be able to reach communities from productive areas," continued Prabowo.
He also reminded all communities to maintain and utilize the regional road infrastructure. According to Prabowo, the quality of regional roads in various regions is currently quite good.
"I thank all institutions and their staff, assisted by local governments, for their hard work. Ladies and gentlemen, we see quite good quality. This must be maintained. All expenditures of public money must be carried out as well as possible," concluded Prabowo.
