The trip planned as a celebration before her wedding turned into tragedy for 37-year-old Italian Sara Ceccantini, who passed away at Syros Hospital after a serious car accident two days ago in Mykonos.
The unfortunate woman had traveled to the island of the Winds with her friends for her bachelorette party, as she was to be married in a few weeks. However, no one could have imagined that the vacation would turn into a nightmare. According to information from Protothema, the accident occurred on a main road of the island, at the height of Xtreme Gyros. The car carrying the Italian women was moving in the right lane when the driver attempted a left turn, crossing perpendicularly into the opposite lane. At that moment, a passenger car driven by a local was coming from the opposite direction. The collision was inevitable. The second vehicle struck the right rear side of the Italians' car with great force, exactly where the 37-year-old was sitting.
Sara Ceccantini bore the brunt of the impact and was seriously injured. Scenes of panic ensued at the scene, while rescuers and police rushed immediately to provide assistance. The 37-year-old was initially transferred to the Mykonos Health Center and then an airlift was deemed necessary to Syros Hospital, where she fought for her life.
As reported by protothema.gr, despite the doctors' efforts, she succumbed to her injuries today, plunging her family, friends, and colleagues in Italy into mourning. The preliminary investigation did not reveal any alcohol consumption by either of the drivers involved, as the relevant tests were negative. The authorities continue to examine all the data of the accident in order to fully clarify the circumstances under which the fatal collision occurred, cutting short the life of the 37-year-old Italian.
The 37-year-old Italian had worked for years at a Prada factory, which, upon learning of the sad news, closed as a sign of mourning. Her death caused deep grief among colleagues, friends, and acquaintances.
The woman was the mother of a daughter and lived in the province of Arezzo with her partner.
