Phu Tho Expands Cooperation Space, Attracts Investment Capital from the Southern Region
On the afternoon of May 29, at the Tan Son Nhat Pavillon Conference Center, the People's Committee of Phu Tho Province organized the 2026 Investment Promotion Conference with the theme "Joining Hands to Create - Developing Together." This is the province's first domestic investment promotion program after the administrative boundary merger, attracting the participation of over 180 enterprises, economic groups, and domestic and foreign investors.
Attending the conference were Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Bui Huy Vinh; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Hieu, along with leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and People's Committee, representatives of many departments and sectors, and 180 major domestic and foreign enterprises.
In his opening speech, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong affirmed that this is an important forum for Phu Tho Province to introduce its potential, advantages, and development orientation to the business community in the South. After the merger of the three provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh, effective July 1, 2025, the new Phu Tho Province has a vast development space with an area of over 9,300 km², a population of about 4 million people, bordering 7 localities, and playing a central role in connecting the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region with the Capital Region and the Northwest.
In 2025, Phu Tho's economy achieved many outstanding results, with a GRDP growth rate of 10.52%, ranking 4th nationwide; the economic scale reached about VND 412.4 trillion, equivalent to nearly USD 16 billion; export turnover reached USD 42 billion. Notably, according to the announcement of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Phu Tho is among the top 5 localities with the best economic governance quality in the country in 2025, and also ranks second nationwide in the Resource Access Index.
Chairman Tran Duy Dong emphasized that by 2030, Phu Tho aims to become one of the growth poles of the Capital Region, a center of industry, trade, and logistics in the area; by 2045, it aspires to become a centrally-governed city with a modern infrastructure system and sustainable social development.
To realize this goal, the province is focusing on implementing three strategic breakthroughs: strongly reforming administrative procedures; developing new economic spaces in the direction of "Three Economic Corridors - One Ecological Belt - Five Driving Axes"; and prioritizing the development of high-quality human resources.
At the conference, Director of Phu Tho Province's Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support Center Bui Hong Do announced a list of 175 key projects calling for investment in the 2026-2030 period under Decision No. 555/QD-UBND dated March 3, 2026, of the Provincial People's Committee.
The projects focus on six key areas: industry in industrial parks and clusters; urban, trade, services, and housing; health, education, tourism, and environment; high-tech agriculture; and inter-regional transport infrastructure. The province prioritizes attracting projects applying advanced technology, clean technology, and modern governance models.
Along with that, the province also disclosed 10 areas of limited investment attraction and 12 areas not attracting investment to ensure a green, sustainable development orientation, firmly refusing to trade the environment for economic growth.
During the discussion, many large enterprises such as Phu My Hung, DIC, AMATA, Viglacera, T&Y Superport, FPT, and enterprises operating in the fields of environment, real estate, and industry directly exchanged with provincial leaders on investment incentive mechanisms, access to planning, project implementation procedures, and industrial park infrastructure.
Investors highly appreciated Phu Tho's investment environment after the merger, especially the local government's spirit of companionship and strong administrative reform.
Exchanging with businesses, provincial leaders committed to maintaining the "24-hour green channel" and "50% green channel" mechanisms in handling investment, land, and construction procedures; organizing a "Weekly Friday Morning Business Coffee" program to promptly remove difficulties for enterprises. The province is also focusing on creating clean land funds, investing in synchronous technical infrastructure up to the fence of industrial parks and clusters, and accelerating the construction of a digital data system on planning and land for investors to search online.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee awarded investment policy decisions, decisions approving investor selection results, and investment registration certificates for 4 projects with a total investment of over VND 6,629 billion and an additional USD 45 million in capital. At the same time, the province witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding for cooperation between the Provincial Investment Promotion and Enterprise Support Center and Central Retail Vietnam Group for the GO Trade Center project and with Nafoods Group Joint Stock Company for the agricultural product processing plant project.
In his closing speech, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Hieu affirmed that the connection between Ho Chi Minh City - the largest economic center in the country - and Phu Tho - a new driving center of the Northern Midlands and Mountainous Region - will create new growth momentum for both localities and the national economy.
The Vice Chairman emphasized that Phu Tho Province always considers the business community as a strategic, long-term partner and commits to accompanying them throughout the investment and production process. "When investors choose Phu Tho as their destination, that is also when businesses become citizens of Phu Tho Province. The success of enterprises is the success of the province," Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu affirmed.
