Taichung International Exhibition Hall Completes Its Mission, Passes the Baton to Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, Demolition Expected to Be Completed by End of September

【 Report by Xiao Yuting, Taichung 】 In coordination with the official opening of the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, the "Taichung International Exhibition Hall," which has served exhibition tasks for nearly nine years, has fulfilled its mission. The entrusted operation and management contract expired on June 14 of this year (115). Currently, the building demolition is being carried out according to the contract, expected to be completed along with site cleanup by the end of September. Subsequently, it will be handed over to the City Government's Land Administration Bureau for land revitalization. Director of the Economic Development Bureau, Zhang Fengyuan, inspected the demolition progress on July 6, urging the construction unit to implement site safety and environmental management to ensure the smooth completion of the project.
Zhang Fengyuan stated that the Taichung International Exhibition Hall was opened in June 2017 (106) as a temporary venue planned by the city government to bridge the period during the construction of the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center. Over the past nine years, it has hosted diverse exhibitions such as food, tourism, cultural creativity, machinery, and various industrial and commercial expos. It not only provided an important exhibition venue for the central region but also accompanied Taichung's industrial development, accumulated exhibition energy, and created more business opportunities for the local area. Now, with the official opening of the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center, it has successfully completed its phased mission.
Zhang Fengyuan pointed out that the Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center provides more complete exhibition and conference spaces, suitable for large-scale international exhibitions, conferences, and industrial exchange activities. It will further enhance the competitiveness of Taichung's exhibition industry and drive the exhibition economy and urban development.
The city government will continue to take the convention and exhibition center as the core, building the most competitive international exhibition platform in central Taiwan, strengthening Taichung's position as the economic hub of central Taiwan and an international exhibition city.
The Economic Development Bureau explained that the entrusted operator, Yongjia International Xingye, has proceeded with the demolition of buildings and related facilities according to the contract. The project is progressing on schedule, with demolition and site cleanup expected to be completed by the end of September. Subsequently, it will be handed over to the Land Administration Bureau to cooperate with the city government's overall planning for land revitalization and maximize land benefits.
The Economic Development Bureau emphasized that during the construction period, it will continue to supervise the construction unit to implement site safety, traffic maintenance, and environmental management measures, minimizing the impact on surrounding residents and road users, ensuring the demolition project is completed safely and smoothly.
