The first Asian store of Unitree Robotics' Embodied Intelligence Experience Center is about to open on the second floor of Jiuguang Department Store in Shanghai's Nanjing West Road business district. This tech store, which integrates display, experience, and sales functions, will feature multiple consumer-grade intelligent robots, offering citizens a close-up encounter with cutting-edge technology.
Entering the 100-square-meter experience center, a futuristic feel greets visitors. The store is divided into three functional zones: a static product display area showcasing Unitree's main robots, a dynamic interactive experience area with live robot performances, and an accessories and merchandise area with various creative peripherals. According to Li Binjie, Senior Vice President of Unitree Robotics, the store emphasizes immersive interactive experiences, fully replicating the core control scenarios of intelligent robots. Consumers can not only observe up close but also operate new products firsthand to experience the charm of technology.
Three star consumer-grade products became the center of attention. The 1.23-meter-tall blue-and-white 'R1 Humanoid Robot', launched in 2025, is an intelligent companion that can dance to music with flexible movements and engage in AI voice interaction via installed apps, suitable for home companionship, commercial performances, and educational learning, priced from 29,999 yuan. The 'G1 Humanoid Robot', which amazed audiences at the Spring Festival Gala, stands 1.3 meters tall with smooth movements, and its advanced version can even perform backflips. The 'Go2 Robot Dog', affectionately called 'Bentou Dog', attracts attention with its playful demeanor, capable of handstands, rolls, and following its owner in follow mode, priced from 8,999 yuan. The store also offers a panda-themed 'skin' for the robot dog, making it look like a lively little panda.
Although not yet officially open, the experience center has already drawn many eyes. Before the opening, passersby often stop to take photos and ask about the opening time. A Russian tourist was amused by the robot dog's antics through the fence, saying he had seen videos on social media but was still amazed to see it in person, especially looking forward to the panda-coated robot dog. Li Binjie revealed that the robot dog's follow function is a key highlight, and in the future it can accompany users to buy groceries or climb mountains, integrating into daily travel scenarios to truly serve consumer needs.
Choosing the Nanjing West Road business district for the first Asian store was a deliberate decision. As a highland for first-launch economy in China, Shanghai sees frequent launches of cutting-edge tech products and a strong offline experience atmosphere, aligning perfectly with the positioning of new intelligent robot products. The Nanjing West Road business district, as a high-end core commercial area, can cover both local tech enthusiasts and domestic and international tourists, matching the product audience well. Li Binjie believes this location better showcases the technological strength and manufacturing level of self-developed Chinese robots.
For the Nanjing West Road business district, introducing hardcore tech companies is a breakthrough attempt. An official from the Jing'an District Commerce Commission stated that by creating a tech experience space that is displayable, interactive, and consumable, cutting-edge technology is transformed into a 'new commercial species' within reach of citizens, initiating a new trend of 'tech-driven consumption'. The opening of the experience center also marks an important step in Jing'an District's transformation from an 'international brand new product launch site' to a 'global consumption trend innovation source'. In the future, this place will not only be a retail venue but also an interactive node for technological innovation, providing citizens and tech enthusiasts with a normalized, immersive window into future life.
Data shows that in 2025, Jing'an District introduced 238 new first stores, averaging about five per week; from January to April this year, 88 first stores were introduced, continuing to lead the city. Jing'an District is injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the first-launch economy through resource integration and mechanism optimization.
