Volodymyr Zelensky met with Ukrainian pilots training in Canada on F-16 fighter jets

Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Ukrainian pilots about the specifics of their training
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Ukrainian military pilots undergoing training at the International Pilot Training School in North Bay, Canada. This was reported by "Glavcom".
At the military base, the Head of State was greeted by a demonstration flight of four L-39 aircraft piloted by Ukrainian cadets. Zelensky then familiarized himself with the training center's operations, tested a simulator cockpit, and learned about the maintenance and life support systems for aviation personnel.
During his conversation with the cadets, the president noted the high level of training of the young pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and thanked the foreign specialists for their work.
"The guys are training to be ready to master modern fighter jets, including the F-16 and Gripen, and to strengthen Ukraine's combat aviation. We are doing everything to protect the sky, and the most important thing for this is good and motivated pilots. We are proud that Ukraine has such a generation of young pilots in its Armed Forces. Thank you to Canada, all the instructors, and the training center for the quality training," Zelensky wrote.
Zelensky emphasized that mastering modern experience is critically important, as in addition to the F-16s, Ukraine will receive Gripen fighter jets this year and other types of aircraft over time. Since April 2025, 21 Ukrainian military personnel have been training at the school; they are conducting daily flights on L-39 jets and undergoing the third and fourth phases of flight training before transitioning to foreign combat aircraft.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the United States to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia as soon as possible. He stressed that Washington has sufficient tools to limit Moscow's ability to finance the war against Ukraine.
"Sanctions must be imposed now. Sanctions must be strong. This is a tool that the US has to deprive Russia of the ability to finance the war against Ukraine daily," Zelensky stated during a conversation with Fareed Zakaria on the sidelines of the Yalta European Strategy – 2026.
It is worth noting that the House of Representatives in the US is preparing to consider a bill to strengthen sanctions against Russia. The document was previously promoted by Senator Lindsey Graham.
The initiative envisages strengthening economic pressure on Moscow and new restrictions for countries that continue to buy Russian energy resources. In this way, Washington wants to make cooperation with Russia more expensive for states that help it generate export revenues.
