Russian authorities reported that on the morning of June 16, Moscow was attacked by drones, resulting in damage to the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district, where a fire broke out.

One of the drones struck an object at the Moscow Oil Refinery, and emergency services are working at the scene. There is no information about casualties, Russian media report.

"The attack of enemy drones on Moscow has been ongoing for the past day. One of the drones damaged an object at the MNPP. There are no casualties. Emergency services are working at the scene," wrote Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

The first reports of downed drones appeared at 5:45 AM. From then until 7:45 AM, according to his posts, Russian air defense forces shot down 37 drones. At 8:00 AM, the mayor announced the destruction of 25 more drones. The Russian authorities did not release data on the number of drones that reached their targets or were not intercepted.

Residents of the Moscow region recorded the operation of air defense systems in Pavlovsky Posad, Ramenskoye, and Zhukovsky. There is information about a fire at the oil refinery in the Kapotnyansky district of Moscow. It is also noted that the distance from the enterprise to the Kremlin is approximately 15 km.

Rosaviatsia reported temporary restrictions at Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, and Ramenskoye airports, the latter also known as Zhukovsky.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that between 8:00 PM on June 15 and 7:00 AM on June 16, Russian forces allegedly destroyed 172 drones over regions of Russia and occupied territories.

The Moscow Oil Refinery, operating under the brand of JSC Gazprom Neft-MNPZ, is the largest oil refining enterprise in the Moscow region. It is located in the Kapotnya district and supplies over a third of Moscow's fuel needs. The enterprise provides aviation kerosene to Moscow airports and produces about 30 types of products.

The plant's capacity is over 11-12 million tons of oil per year. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, marine fuel, and road bitumen.

As a result of the drone attack on Moscow and the Moscow region, a number of objects were hit, including a technology park, an enterprise, oil infrastructure, and an airport.

According to sources, these include the Elma technology park and the Angstrem enterprise, located in Zelenograd, one of Moscow's districts. Published footage from these locations shows fires and thick smoke.

It is noted that the resident enterprises of the technology park specialize in the production of electronic products, control and measuring instruments, and optical equipment. The total area of the technology park is 60,000 m², the land plot is 6 hectares.
