Tsipra’s Party: Deploying the Myth of ‘Exception’ from the Barbaric Norm
The so-called ‘exception’ of Greece from an otherwise ‘European normality’ was mobilized yesterday by the Tsipra bulwark during a press conference of its executives on the topic ‘Mitsotakis’ seven years – Seven years of lies, missed opportunities, corruption.’
Following verbatim the path of sinful social democracy, yesterday they attempted to defend the rotten capitalist system and the EU, which is preparing peoples for new bloody sacrifices for profits in the war period. That is why they resorted to the myth that this barbaric policy is … pro-people, but in our country it is applied ‘wrongly’, simply due to some ideological fixations and ND’s corruption. In reality, of course, yesterday Tsipra’s party confirmed what the ‘program’ is that it already follows and will attempt to implement if it manages to become ‘caliph in place of the caliph’: The program that is written in the war summits of the EU and NATO and has ‘one thing in mind’: the escalation of involvement, leading the people to the fiscal slaughterhouse for all kinds of armament programs and the shift to a war economy.
While, that is, the source of acute popular problems is precisely the implementation of this barbaric policy of shielding competitiveness and the profitability of groups, under war conditions even, social democracy turns reality upside down, claiming that the problem is its ‘non-implementation’ in the …correct way.
What is the ‘correct way’? To promote this slaughterhouse with ‘transparency’, ‘accountability’, ‘honesty’, as Tsipra’s party argues, advertising that it has …its way of deceiving popular discontent by referring to the utopia of a ‘fair management of injustice’.
Against such a background, the sector heads of EL.AS., Fr. Koutentakis and D. Temponeras, and the press spokesperson Th. Koufonikolaou attempted to deconstruct the government’s record, through the well-known convenient comparisons with EU ‘averages’, e.g., regarding purchasing power, working days and hours, etc. And this when throughout the EU peoples are grappling with the huge wave of inflation, while the models of ‘arrangement’ and ‘flexibility’ applied by social democratic and liberal governments spread working time throughout the 24-hour day, to intensify exploitation for more profits. That is why, in Greece, the notorious ‘arrangement’ has been voted and implemented by all governments in recent years, culminating in the ‘4-day week’ that ND voted together with the 13-hour day. It is characteristic that especially the so-called 4-day week of ‘flexibility’, which means more unpaid work and intensification, is a ‘meeting point’ for all the parties of capital, with each accusing the other of …stealing the idea.
In the same direction was what was said about the super-memorandum of the Recovery Fund, which ND, PASOK, and SYRIZA had voted together when it was decided by the EU, and which included a series of anti-popular milestones to disburse funding for the businesses of capital. So yesterday EL.AS. talked about a ‘missed opportunity’ and ‘mismanagement’, echoing the quarrel within the bourgeoisie over the distribution of hot money that comes out of bleeding surpluses. This is, of course, a critique that for the people constitutes a ‘warning shot’ for the next round of funding for capital in the context of the war economy, since it essentially projects its ‘readiness’ to manage the funds by loading the broken pieces onto the backs of workers.
Below, Tsipra’s team engaged in the well-known enumeration of the ND government’s scandals (OPEKEPE, wiretapping, etc.), crafting the image of Greece as a ‘black sheep’ in the EU, hiding that everywhere emanates the stench of a system rotten to the core, which is the other side of the profitability of groups, which the current government also shields with its barbaric policy.
