TPO - A thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and strong winds that occurred in several localities in Hue City caused 18 houses to lose their roofs, hundreds of trees to fall, extensive damage to crops, and damaged the outdoor stage at Quoc Hoc Stele Square.

On the morning of June 19, information from the Sub-Department of Irrigation and Climate Change (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City) reported that the city experienced thunderstorms with tornadoes, lightning, and strong winds, causing damage to houses, trees, and agricultural production.

Military forces survey the scene of houses damaged by the storm to implement remedial measures.

According to initial statistics, 18 houses had their roofs blown off. Of these, Binh Dien commune had 1 house completely unroofed; Huong Tra ward had 15 houses with 30-50% roof damage; Kim Long ward and Phong Thai ward each had 1 house affected. Additionally, in Huong Tra ward, the storm broke 112 trees, damaged about 10-12 hectares of bananas, and nearly 20 hectares of thanh tra fruit.

Regarding casualties, a child in Binh Dien commune was injured in the head due to the storm and was taken to a medical facility for first aid. The victim's health is now stable.

Notably, the outdoor stage system at Quoc Hoc Stele Square in Hue – where the closing ceremony of the Hue International Music Week was scheduled for the evening of June 18 – was heavily damaged, forcing the program to be postponed.

Immediately after the disaster, local authorities mobilized functional forces to inspect, assess damage, support residents in overcoming consequences, clear fallen trees, ensure traffic, and quickly stabilize life. The Military Command of Hue City also directed local military forces to help households repair roofs damaged by the storm.
