For a Drug-Free Society

Drugs not only destroy people's health but also breed many types of crime, pushing countless families into tragedy. In Dong Nai, the fight against drugs is entering a more fierce phase than ever, as the entire political system simultaneously launches a movement to build drug-free communes and wards.

From dismantled cases to management models, rehabilitation, and community reintegration, a strong determination to protect the peace of life by the authorities is evident.

Combating and dismantling many complex drug lines and hotspots

Drugs are always a global scourge. In Dong Nai, although authorities have taken strong action, drug-related crimes and social evils remain complex, with increasingly sophisticated methods and tricks.

Speaking at the rally for the Action Month against Drugs 2026 on June 27, City Party Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang emphasized: "Drugs are the cause of many types of crime and social evils. Where drugs exist, there is a potential risk of security and order disruption."

Also according to Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hoang, under the leadership of the City Party Committee, the direction of the City People's Committee, and the involvement of the entire political system and the people, drug prevention and control in the city has achieved important results. Authorities have proactively cracked down on and dismantled many complex drug lines and hotspots; propaganda, education, management of drug addicts and illegal drug users, and support for community reintegration have been given attention. However, the situation of drug crime and social evils remains potentially complex, requiring continued more drastic, synchronous, and effective measures in the coming time.

In many localities in Dong Nai city, police forces have cracked down on and handled many cases and subjects related to drugs.

In Phuoc Binh ward, in the first six months of 2026, the ward police discovered and dismantled 4 cases with 10 subjects related to drugs. Notably, most of the offenders were addicts buying and selling small quantities for personal use or enticing others to use.

In mid-June 2026, the City Police Drug Crime Investigation Unit coordinated with Gia Khiem commune police to arrest a group of subjects for illegal drug trading and storage. Expanding the investigation, authorities identified many related subjects. After verification, the police temporarily detained 9 subjects for criminal handling; the rest were processed for compulsory rehabilitation and administrative penalties. In this case, authorities seized 1,000 synthetic drug pills, 1.5 kg of ketamine, and 47 packets of liquid ecstasy.

According to Dong Nai City Police, authorities have recently continuously dismantled many complex hotspots, significantly reducing drug "hot spots." Reality shows that drugs do not exist in isolation but always lead to other crimes such as theft, robbery, intentional injury, and even murder.

More worryingly, the age of drug users is getting younger. Synthetic drugs masquerading as food, e-cigarettes, "happy water," and "laughing gas" infiltrate schools, industrial zones, and densely populated worker areas. This poses a huge risk to the young generation.

City Party Committee member, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee NGUYEN THI HOANG requested each cadre, party member, youth union member, association member, and citizen to uphold their sense of responsibility, actively participate in detecting and denouncing crimes; mobilize relatives, families, and the community to join hands in preventing drugs, building a healthy and civilized lifestyle.

Building drug-free communes and wards

Given the above situation, Dong Nai is implementing many synchronous solutions with the goal of not only handling the symptoms but also addressing the root causes of drug crime.

According to Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hoang, to achieve this goal, Dong Nai focuses on five key solution groups. First is strengthening propaganda, especially targeting youth, students, and workers. This group is vulnerable to being lured into drug use if lacking identification and prevention skills.

Additionally, departments, branches, mass organizations, and localities must promote the role and responsibility of leaders of agencies, units, and localities; consider drug prevention and control as a regular, continuous political task; mobilize the participation of the entire political system and the whole society.

For the city police force, they continue to play a core role, proactively advise and effectively implement crackdowns on drug crimes; tightly manage areas and subjects; prevent the formation of complex drug spots and hotspots.

As one of the localities effectively implementing crime and drug prevention, the authorities of Phuoc Thai commune and its police have implemented many measures to curb this type of crime.

Lieutenant Colonel Dang Quang Hung, Head of Phuoc Thai Commune Police, said: To effectively prevent drugs, the role and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, agencies, and units in drug prevention must be promoted. On that basis, the combined strength of the entire society, the drastic involvement of the whole political system, socio-economic organizations, and all citizens in drug prevention must be mobilized.

In Phuoc Binh ward, the ward police focus on tightly managing drug addicts, illegal drug users, and former addicts after rehabilitation. At the same time, they support community reintegration for former addicts; build models of drug-free residential areas, schools, and agencies associated with the movement of 'All People Protecting National Security'...

The fight against drugs has never been easy. However, with high political determination, the synchronized involvement of the police, local authorities, and the consensus of the people, the goal of building drug-free areas in Dong Nai is gradually being realized. A drug-free society is not only the destination of the authorities but also the common aspiration of every family, every residential area, and the entire community.
